Wedding planning in 2020 was HARD to say the least, but Caitlyn and Colten’s amazing families came together to make it look easy. They put on the perfect fall boho inspired East Texas Wedding at Sunset Oaks!
Their Love Story Begins in East Texas…
We first met in high school at a district FFA convention. We reconnected when I was in college. I lived four hours away, and make the last minute decision to move back to East Texas to date him. I knew he was the one from the very beginning!

About the proposal…
He wanted to propose in front of my family, because he knows how much family means to me. He asked my Aunt Erica if he could propose before my cousin's graduation party, and she said yes. He proposed to me in front of almost my whole family. We were both sun burnt, and I was dressed like a bum, but I wouldn't have had it any other way!
What were you looking forward to despite all the 2020 craziness?
I am looking forward to marrying the love of my life! The planning has been so stressful, and the one thing that means the most is me and him together, becoming one on our wedding day. I am also looking forward to the delicious food!
How did you choose your East Texas Wedding Venue?
I chose Sunset Oaks because the staff feels like family. They truly want what is best for you on your wedding day. Amber and Debbie have been AMAZING and flexible in providing what we want on the day of. They are wonderful people who truly care about making your day special. We knew it was the one, the day we toured. It is beautiful and worth every penny!
What’s your wedding theme/style?
Our theme is elegant boho! Lots of macrame and greenery. We wanted simple yet elegant and classy.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings right now?
Lovingly stand up for yourself and what you want. Do not let anyone run your over on your wedding day. At the same time, do not let wedding planning come in between your family or friends.
