+ What is the current status of events at Sunset Oaks?

Sunset Oaks is operational and hosting beautiful weddings at full capacity based on the most recent orders from Gov. Greg Abbot.

+ What guidelines does Sunset Oaks have in place?

We are locating the buffet on the outside patio to allow for social distancing in the buffet line. We still encourage food to be served to avoid common touch surfaces.

We also request that you have your guests stay home if they feel sick, have been in contact with anyone who is sick, or would feel more comfortable not participating in a group gathering.

All guests will be required to follow the CDC's quarantine guidelines. No one who has a positive test or known exposure in the past 10 days should come to the venue.

We will support your directive to require masks if you’d like.

We will provide sanitizing stations.

We are encouraging extra hand washing and regular use of our provided hand sanitizer.

Tables will need to be called one by one for the buffet. We have table numbers available to make this possible

+ What suggestions does Sunset Oaks have to make our guests feel safe?

You may consider locating the dance floor on the covered patio for increased air flow.

You may consider reserved tables for elderly guests, located on the patio or further away from the group. This could mean, to accommodate for extra table spacing, we can use the dance floor for reception seating when the headcount requires it.

You may consider more patio seating to allow for better social distancing.

You may ask your guests to wear masks inside.

+ What about AC/the garage doors?

We are suggesting, for air flow, if it is a nice day to keep the garage doors open after dinner once dancing starts. If it is pretty warm we will keep the garage doors closed.

+ If restrictions are tightened again, what are the options available?

If mandated restrictions are tightened again, and we are unable to host events, we will proactively reach out to couples within the mandated window + the following 30 days with options available. (We can’t tell you what those are until we know the specifications of the possible restrictions, but as of now the Governor is saying he has no expectations to shut the state down again, so we don’t expect this to be necessary.)

For all of our 2020 spring couples who were impacted, they felt like our process to handle these changes went smoothly, was in everyone’s best interest and very fair. (We love our Sunset Oaks couples! Thank you all for being so amazing and allowing us to serve and support you through those changes.)

+ My friends/family are making me nervous, what should I do?

This can be so stressful, and our hearts are going out to you! At this time, there is nothing preventing us from hosting your wedding, and we are working really hard to give you the best and safest day possible! We have had ZERO COVID cancellations to date and have found a way to accommodate everyone and start all those “happily ever afters” in style.
