You’re here! If you’ve landed on this post, that could mean two really exciting things: you said “yes” to your favorite person AND you’re ready to book your venue! We want you to bask in all your newly engaged glory for as long as you can, so we’re here to make sure booking your wedding venue is nothing but smooth sailing.

Wedding planning doesn’t have to be stressful. I know I know, those may seem like unrealistic words right now, but that’s where we swoop in and save the day. Consider us the Avengers of wedding planning.

Grab a notebook and all of your colored pens (it’s okay, we all have a secret stash of colored pens - this is their time to shine) , pour yourself a mimosa, and let’s get this party started.

5 Things to Do BEFORE Booking Your Wedding Venue:

  1. Choose a general location. To put it simply, where do you want your wedding to be? Near the bride’s hometown? Near the groom’s hometown? Nowhere near either? Think about it, talk it out, and decide on your perfect location. This will help you narrow down venues in the area!

  2. Set a headcount. When it comes to venues, knowing your headcount is crucial. There’s a very big difference in choosing a venue to accommodate 100 people and choosing a venue to accommodate 500 people. While this may seem obvious, you would be surprised how many brides have not considered this before touring their venue. We don’t want you to panic when tour guide Karen asks you the “so how many people are you planning on having” question. Have a general idea of what your number is so you can make sure the venue is the right size for you!

  3. Pick a range of dates. The keyword here is “range”. The more flexibility you can have on your dates, the better chance you’ll have at nailing down your dream venue. More times than not, brides only have one date set in mind when they go tour their venue. It can leave them overwhelmed and disappointed if they’ve just envisioned their PERFECT wedding at the PERFECT venue only to find out their date is taken. If you can be open to multiple dates, we think you’ll find that whichever date is available will turn out to be the PERFECT date!

  4. Set a Budget (and stick to it). Yeah, we’ve finally brought up the dreaded b-word, go ahead and take a another sip of that mimosa. Creating a budget is not always the most exciting part of your wedding planning, but it is the most necessary part! Do some research on the main components of your wedding: Venue, Photographer, DJ, and Catering. Come up with a number that makes sense for you, and stick. to. it. You will be so proud of yourself for sticking to your number without sacrificing your vision for your wedding. You can do it, we believe in you!

  5. Prioritize the important things. Once you've created your budget, make a list of the things that are most important to you. When you do this, you’ll be able to move things around within your budget to accommodate your vision. And this also feels like an appropriate time to encourage you to make sure it’s your vision. If you do that, you’ll soon realize that newly engaged glory you were basking in earlier turns into newlywed glory, because your wedding was everything you could imagine and more.

Now that you’ve finished that mimosa and have your color coordinated notes, you can take a deep breath! You are ready to book your venue!
