Venue Host Job Description

Role Overview:

As Venue Host at Sunset Oaks Venue, your role will be exciting, varied, and critical to the daily, monthly and annual operations at our venue. This role is active in caring for the venue and grounds, preparation and execution of events, and a variety of tasks leading up to each event.

This role is required to have availability Friday’s, Saturday’s and Sunday’s.

General Duties: (Include but are not limited to)

  • Interface with Clients: This position has regular and direct interaction with future and current clients and their families. The Venue Host must always act with a level of professionalism that represents the venue well. This sometimes requires interacting with challenging personalities and it is critical that the Venue Host can do so without losing patience.

  • Fulfill Wedding Day Duties: The duties of a wedding day may include, but are not limited to- moving tables & chairs to set floor plans, greeting the client, assisting vendors or the decorating team, managing challenges as they arise, keeping up and cleaning of bathrooms, stocking restrooms, sweeping/mopping, taking out trash, bussing tables throughout the event, client interaction throughout the event, etc. It also may include the cleaning and reset of the venue to prepare for a wedding or event the following day, which requires staying until midnight or later.

  • Prepare Venue for Upcoming Events: The Venue Host is responsible for cleaning of the venue prior to the client arriving onsite for the first event of the weekend.

  • Assist in Inventory Management: The Venue Host is to assist in the organization of cleaning supplies, event supplies, and decoration inventory.

  • Special Projects: Special projects may be assigned as they are identified.

  • Set up Duties: The Venue Host will often assist in moving tables, chairs, and placing linens on tables.

  • Teamwork: The Venue Host is one of 3 to 4 team members who serve our clients on the wedding day, and we all look out for one another and set each other up for success.

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is an “A-Player” who always brings their best work and can excel working alongside a close-knit team as well as with new clients every week. He or she can follow standard operating procedures and remain professional as challenges arise. He or she does not wait for others to “make it happen,” but instead takes the initiative to step up and take care of the venue while serving our clients.

He or she is available on weekends, often past 11 p.m., and is flexible with a rotating schedule, available +/- 10 to 20 hrs per week (Less in July, August, and January. More in May-June and Sep-Nov). Availability will be submitted in 1 month advance, and the team works together to cover all the shifts and still work with one another’s time off requests, within reason.

He or she is comfortable with professional, client facing roles, as well as behind the scenes cleaning and moving tables/chairs duties.

THIS IS NOT A WEDDING COORDINATOR OR EVENT PLANNER JOB, although there are opportunities to grow within the team with proven work ethic and talent- we promote from within after 1+ years on the team.
